guerilla knitting...

Been a busy couple days. Miss Stella V. -my lovely step daughter was here visiting us for the weekend... IMG_4817

we stumbled on a yarn bombing site.......right in our backyard!

colorful knit flowers covering the entire length of the railing at north admiral look out-a popular viewpoint in West Seattle

all done by: yarncore

with a hearty message attached- the kidney transplant patient is yarncore's mama.

names for this form of guerilla art are: "yarn bombing" and or "yarn storming" you can read wiki's definition here

there are yarn bomber's all over the world.

It's funny to think anyone would create a stink over knit art...but there are those negative nancy's out there. We have a community blog and surprisingly enough someone HAD to say something negative about this may day fun...

Personally I think it's awesome. It gave me the chance to spend a little time with Stella, answer her questions about how it got there, who might have done it and why... to see the gears in her head spin as she skipped up and down to look at all the pretty knit and crocheted flowers was priceless.

it's totally creative food for thought. for youth and for ALL walks of life....I say rock on yarncore!

Wow, seems like every time I read your blog I learn about something new. Never heard of yarn bombing till now, but I think it is a great way to bring a little color into our world.
